Despite the hype of the Harry Potter phenomenon, the fact remains that a myriad of children are delving into these texts, regardless of the reasons for having them in hand. While clearly a marketing ploy on many levels, the stories do have some redeeming qualities. The Spectrum web page has taken this phenomenon and created a series of activities around the ideas of fantasy versus reality which allow the child to explore issues raised by the texts in a productive and inquisitive fashion. |
