Shakey Snake example of integrated items and overall good design. Illustrated by the author's high school-aged daughter, this site has won numerous awards. It is unique in that it prevents a full package of books and activities including a coloring book with printable pages, an activities page with a ``coming soon'' math game and discussion board in which the reader can send email to Shakey and ask him questions. The books tell a very pleasant story of rattlesnake child who simply cannot keep his tail from rattling. The text flows well and the illustrations add to the overall context of the text, but do not provide a wealth of peripheral information (as in sendak's where the wild things are). |
